If you’ve been in the Google Webmaster Tools lately you’ve probably noticed an update in the link to your site section. Many webmasters report seeing a great increase in the number of links shown in Google Webmaster Tools, and Google has told us that those numbers are real. Using link:URL in Google still shows only a sample of all the backlinks to a site. This means that right now, the best way to check how many backlinks Google sees to your site is to use Google’s own backlink checker, available in the webmaster tools.
